Dirt In The Gate Movies
Film: The Lost Boys and Once Bitten Double Bill
THE LOST BOYS (1987) is the ultimate '80s hybrid horror movie and teen flick. Single mother Lucy (Dianne Wiest) and her two sons Michael (Jason Patric) and Sam (Corey Haim) become involved with a pack of vampires when they move into an offbeat Northern California town with Lucy's lovable but curmudgeonly father (Barnard Hughes). Shot on location in the coastal California town of Santa Cruz and directed by Hollywood legend Joel Schumacher, The Lost Boys became a pop-culture phenomenon thanks to its talented young stars, offbeat soundtrack, and hip, clever marketing campaign. "Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire." -- perfectly captured its knowing mixture of attitude and gore. Projected from a Warner Brothers archive 35mm Print PLUS! "Wake up sleepyhead, its sunset!" ONCE BITTEN (1985) is best remembered for the leading role film debut of phenomenally popular comedian of the early '90s, Jim Carrey. This horror comedy chronicles the attempts of a bloodthirsty female vampire living in modern day Los Angeles. She must find the blood of a male virgin every year to stay alive and youthful before Halloween. All seems lost for her until she meets Mark Kendall in a downtown bar where he and his friends are hanging out. It turns out Mark's one night stand has been around for centuries! Carnival Of Objects
And the winds howled to the wailing of the seals. A voice whispered from the gloom, “Some say they are the souls of drowned men…”
The Sea is a haunting yarn set in the wilds of the Western Isles. Beautiful music, grotesque puppetry and evocative soundscapes interact to create an eerie lament of love, brutality and loss. A lone kayaker who speaks to the waves, the unearthly melodies of seal folk, the rum riddled ruthlessness of ‘Tam the Teeth’, and an old, barnacled, singing whale are some of the strange imaginings that roam amidst mists, sea caves and cruel storms in this dark and atmospheric coastal tale.
The event will begin with a talk by Marine Conservation Society. After show Q & A with the company on Saturday night.
